Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first to take advantage of the early moisture on the pitch.
Charith Asalanka’s decision was proven right by his fast bowlers as Nuwan Thushara bowled a wicket maiden to start the innings.

Litton Das tried to build the innings together, but Wanindu Hasaranga struck twice to get rid of Mahedi Hasan and Das to put Bangladesh into more trouble.
But eventually it was the 86-run partnership between Shamim Hossain and Jaker Ali that took Bangladesh to 139 in the first inning. Hossain remained unbeaten on 42 from 34 balls while Jaker Ali stayed not out on 41 from 34 balls.
Hasarana, who returned from an injury, was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets. New ball bowlers were also incredible for the 6-time Asia Cup Champions.
