Her real father, a police officer in critical condition after an accident, resembles the thief to a tee. Need we say more? Akshay Kumar plays a double role in the film.

Inspired by a true story, Padman focuses on the story of a man from a rural village in India whose empathy and tenacity lead to the creation of a machine to supply inexpensive sanitary pads for menstruating women in his village. The lead character is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu.
