6 films in which Bollywood stars went undercover like Radhe

Salman Khan is all set to fight multiple villains in Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. The actor’s titular character will once again go undercover in the film, just like in the first film Wanted, which was also directed by Prabhu Deva.

Salman is not new to covert operations as he has also played undercover agents in his earlier movies such as Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai. Here are some of the popular Bollywood films in which the protagonists have taken up a mission using an alternate identity.

Alia Bhatt’s character Sehmat was trained to become an undercover RAW agent and marry Iqbal Syed (Vicky Kaushal), a Pakistani military official, to alert the Indian army about the attack plans of the neighbouring country, in this film. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film was based on Harinder Sikka’s book Calling Sehmat. The movie, also starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajit Kapoor, Soni Razdan and Amruta Khalvilkar, became the one of highest-grossing films of 2018. The movie can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, WAR had Tiger’s RAW agent character going undercover with the aim of killing his mentor who had gone rogue. But things are not as they seem in this plot packed with twists. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie also stars Vaani Kapoor and Anupriya Goenka in pivotal roles. The film can be viewed on YouTube.
Madras Cafe

Shoojit Sircar’s Madras Cafe revolves around intelligence agent Vikram Singh (John Abraham), who sets off on a secret mission to Sri Lanka, only to find out that a civil war has broken out and the anger is directed towards a former Indian Prime Minister. Also starring Nargis Fakhri and Rashi Khanna in the lead roles, the movie can be streamed on Netflix.

Priyanka Chopra-Jonas plays Roma, an undercover cop Roma tasked with bringing Don (Shah Rukh Khan) to justice. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Kamini is also hired for the same role, but she chooses a different path. The Farhan Akhtar directorial revolves around Don, and his lookalike Vijay. The latter is hired to extract more information about the underworld criminal, but is left clueless mid-way through the investigation and does not receive any help from the cops either. The film, also starring Boman Irani, is available on Netflix.

In Khal Nayak, Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff)’s fiance Ganga (Madhuri Dixit-Nene) takes charge after Balram (Sanjay Dutt) escapes prison. She goes undercover and meets Balram with the intention of capturing him. However, things do not go as expected when Ballu falls in love with Ganga. The Subhash Ghai directorial can be viewed on Zee5.

Much like Khal Nayak, Gunday also sees criminals fall for an undercover cop. Arjun Kapoor’s Bala and Ranveer Singh’s Bikram fall head over heels for Nandita, played by Priyanka Chopra. The latter is an undercover cop who enters their lives only to catch them red-handed. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
