The pandemic has been a painful time with little to rejoice about. Not being able to step out, meet our loved ones or sense even an ounce of normality in our schedules seem to have taken a huge toll. It is now more than ever that movies are acting as a source of comfort for those of us who can’t seem to crack a smile.

We have a list of seven feel-good movies that will warm your heart and lift your spirits. Stay safe, stay indoors and pick your flick.

Love, Simon
7.7OTTplay Rating
Love, Simon is the tale of Simon Spier, a high-schooler, who falls in love with an anonymous classmate online. The story churns out the sweetest romance for audiences as Simon attempts to come out to his family, friends and the entire school. Starring Nick Robinson and Katherine Langford, this film is sure to leave you smiling. It even has a ferris wheel finale!
Crazy Rich Asians
7.3OTTplay Rating
If you’re looking for some light happy-crying, Crazy Rich Asians is the movie for you. The plot follows the love story of Rachel Chu and Nick Young. Rachel is a New Yorker who’s unaware that Nick belongs to an unbelievably wealthy family in Singapore. This revelation is made when she travels back to Singapore with Nick for a wedding and unexpected troubles arise. Crazy Rich Asians stars Constance Wu and Henry Golding, who make a swoon-worthy couple.
Jerry Maguire
7.4OTTplay Rating
One of Tom Cruise’s finest performances, Jerry Maguire is a sports film with the right amount of humour and romance. Cruise’s character Jerry is seen chasing his dreams - both professional and romantic. By the end of the film, you’ll understand why “you had me at hello” makes so many people tear up.
Mamma Mia!
6.2OTTplay Rating
Greece, ABBA’s soundtrack, and Meryl Streep - what’s not to love? Add Amanda Seyfried and Colin Firth to the mix and you’ve got Mamma Mia, an ultimate feel-good movie that will have you belting out tunes even after the credits have rolled.
Pitch Perfect
7OTTplay Rating
Pitch Perfect is as wonderful to watch as the movie’s soundtrack is to listen to. Before Ben Platt dazzled us all as Evan in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, he starred in Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick. If you’re looking for a movie that makes you groove, laugh and cheer in the end, Pitch Perfect should do the job.
The Half of It
7OTTplay Rating
The Half of It hits all the right notes that make a feel-good movie: a coming-of-age story, a fresh romance that will take you down the memory lane, and an unlikely friendship that blossoms into something beautiful. Leah Lewis plays the role of Elli Chu, an introverted high-schooler who agrees to write love letters for the school jock. The catch? Both of them are crushing over the same girl.
7.2OTTplay Rating
This list would be incomplete with Clueless. The plot features Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), a popular high-school student who takes on the project of giving a new student a makeover. The film is filled with iconic dialogues, outfits that will make you crave an instant wardrobe upgrade, and Silverstone bringing this hoity toity, but kindhearted high schooler to life with perfection.
