With a new film coming out this month and several others in production, 2021 has been a busy year for actress Priyamani. The National Film Award recipient has also dipped her toe in reality TV, serving as a judge on several South-Indian reality shows. The multilingual actress, whose career spans over 17 years, stars in director Srikanth Addala’s latest venture Narappa. The Telugu-language film is a remake of the Tamil movie Asuran (2019), which in turn is adapted from a novel.

Before Narappa releases on OTT on July 20, here is a list of films where Priyamani delivers some memorable performances to help you through the wait.

8.6OTTplay Rating
Set in rural Madurai against a backdrop of rampant caste discrimination, the movie is essentially a love story of Paruthiveeran (Karthi) and Muththazhagu (Priyamani). It deals with the difficulties and abuse the couple has to endure as a result of Paruthiveeran’s caste status. The film is part social commentary and part romantic drama. Priyamani delivers a powerful performance as the female lead, which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
7.2OTTplay Rating
Construed as a modern retelling of the epic Ramayana, the film’s characters and their story lines mimic that of the Indian mythology. Priyamani’s role echoes that of Shurpanakha, Ravana’s sister whose humiliation at the hands of Rama’s brother set in motion the main events of the Ramayana.
Kshetram is a film with supernatural elements, predominantly dealing with the theme of possession and revenge. Priyamani stars as the love interest of the male lead, who belongs to a family with a villainous past. She is possessed by the ghost of a woman tragically killed by her husband’s family, and is seeking revenge on those who wronged her.
5.8OTTplay Rating
The film tells the story of Satya(Nagarjuna) who arrives in the city, seemingly to earn his fortune and earns the favour of one of the city’s gang leaders, engaged in gang war with another. Priyamani plays the second female lead to Anushka Shetty. The film has thrilling aspects with a plot twist that’s hard to see coming.
5.5OTTplay Rating
A supernatural horror film that tackles the themes of jealousy in love and sisterhood, Chaarulatha sees a performance by Priyamani in a dual role. She plays conjoined sisters who both fall in love with the same man. The chaos that ensues following this makes the movie an interesting watch.
6.3OTTplay Rating
The movie follows the story of Gangaram (Gopichand), a police officer turned gangster. Priyamani plays the officer’s devoted wife, whose husband is tricked into going on the run. The fast-paced film also has impressive action sequences.
