Everybody is eagerly awaiting the release of Sivakarthikeyan’s Doctor which is expected in September on Disney+Hotstar. The actor will be seen in a new avatar, helming the role of a doctor in the medical action film. Kollywood has released several such medical dramas with actors portraying important roles of doctors. These medical dramas are mass entertainers with interesting plots showcasing lives of medical professionals and the realities of healthcare facilities in the country which make them all an interesting watch. It also has a heart-warming love story that takes place amidst all the chases and bloody gore.

Featuring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, the movie focuses more on how the less-fortunate are unable to seek and afford medical care and attention that they need. Sethupati plays the role of the first doctor from his village who falls in love with a girl. Unable to marry, the girl commits suicide and heartbroken Sethupati turns alcoholic who is then nursed back to health by his college friend. The movie showcases a beautiful story of love, friendship and family.

Considered to be a rom-com, it stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role who disguises himself as a nurse to woo a doctor. He becomes a close friend of her and tries to convince her to end her engagement with her fiance. Will he succeed? Inspired by Kamal Haasan’s Avvai Shanmugi, the feel-good movie also shows pediatricians employing methods of humour to cheer their patients for their moral strength.

A well-appreciated movie starring Thalapathy Vijay in a triple role, one of them being a medical professional who is addressed as the “One rupee doctor” as he charges only a rupee for any treatment. He is traced to have killed his colleague Dr Arjun Zachariah but later on realises that it was his look-alike. His doppleganger justifies his actions as an end to corrupt professionals. It is a movie that gives you mass entertainment in abundance with a serious message.
