Akshay Kumar is a name that went on to prove "Dene wala jab bhi deta hai, sab kuch phad deta hai." Not only did he achieve fame in a way that gave him his due as an actor, but Kumar (real name: Rajiv Bhatia) set the standards high in every genre of films he did - whether they were action or comedy.

The actor changed the game with every movie and literally made his dialogue, "Khiladi tha, ab pura khel hoon," come alive.

Here are a few films featuring the 'Khiladi Kumar' that will make laugh so hard that your tummies might start to hurt...

Hera Pheri
8OTTplay Rating
Aye Raju! Remember how fierce Kumar was in Hera Pheri? According to his kundali, he would kill somone and he used that to threaten Shyam (Suniel Shetty) and Baburao Apte (Paresh Rawal) every time he got the opportunity to. Definitely 50 rupya mat kaat overacting ka, because it entertained us thoroughly. The film was about Baburao and his two tenants, Raju (Kumar) and Shyam, trying to become a billionaire after an opportunity comes knocking their way. Hera Pheri can be streamed on Voot.
Garam Masala
6.9OTTplay Rating
Kumar played the role of photographer Mac, who has been sent on an assignment in Mauritius, in Garam Masala. He has been asked to pretend playing fiance to three women namely Deepti (Daisy Bopanna), Puja (Nargis Bagheri) and Sweety (Neetu Chandra). Thanks to his situation, the movie creates hilarious moments for his characters. The actor also won Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a comic role, for the movie. Garam Masala is essentially the story of two rival photographers, Mac and Sam (John Abraham), who have been assumed as good-for-nothing and have to constantly prove they are capable of doing their job, in order to be able to work for 'Garam Masala' magazine. The film can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
Phir Hera Pheri
7.2OTTplay Rating
Not to scream and tell everyone the scheme, but Phir Hera Pheri was definitely a film where Kumar as Raju grew fourfold. He had more emotions and cared about human life than money in Phir Hera Pheri. The movie continued from Hera Pheri. In this film, Raju invests in a scheme to double the money they earned. However things do not go as planned, leading to a lot of chaos, which is also essentially the plot of Hera Pheri. Phir Hera Pheri can be viewed on Netflix India.
Bhagam Bhag
6.7OTTplay Rating
Kumar played the role of notorious Bunty in Bhagam Bhag. He was a theatre actor who got an opportunity to perform in London, but had been stuck in unwarranted circumstances. Bhagam Bhag is the movie based on two theatre actors Bunty and Babla (Govinda), who visit London with their theatre group director Champak Chaturvedi (Paresh Rawal). The two actors compete to find an actress, under the conditions that one of them will be selected for the play if they succeed in doing so. The film can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa
7.5OTTplay Rating
Right from his entry in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Kumar as Dr. Aditya Srivastav was all about making people laugh. He was an intelligent character, often misunderstood because he didn't take life too seriously. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is the story of a Brahmin family home in Rajasthan being haunted by a ghost. Vidya Balan as Manjulika is still considered an iconic character and one of the actress' best roles till date. The film is available for viewing on YouTube.

As Rajiv Saini, Kumar created a storm in Welcome. He kept Uday and Majnu bhai (Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor) on his fingertips and managed to make the former's sister Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) fall in love with him. The story of Welcome followed three families - Shetty family, Xaka family (RDX, played by late Feroz Khan) and Ghungroo family. Their lives were constantly intertwined, whether professionally (business of don) or personally (the love story between Rajiv and Sanjana). Welcome can be streamed on Netflix in India.
Singh Is Kinng
6.1OTTplay Rating
Singh Is Kinng is one of the films which is high on accidental comedy. It is the situation around the character of Happy Singh (Kumar), which creates laughter outrour. The film is the story of Singh's to finding Lucky Singh (current king of Australian underworld), played by Sonu Sood, and convincing him to return to their village in Punjab. A lot happens during the journey and despite being unable to convince Lucky, Happy stays back due to unforseeable circumstances. Unfortunately, Singh Is Kinng is not available on any streaming platform.
5.6OTTplay Rating
After Hera Pheri, Kumar found another franchise which he could call his own - Housefull. The film was so loved it now has four installments already. Kumar plays the role of Aarush in Housefull, who is unlucky in love. His luck changes as he (Sunny) finds his ladylove in Housefull 2 (in Heena, played by Asin). He played the dual role of Sandy and Sundi in Housefull 3. While Sandy kept things under control, Sundi took every opportunity to ruin them. Housefull 4, on the other hand, is the story of reincarnation. It saw Kumar in the role of Rajkumar Bala and Harry. While Housefull is available on Amazon Prime Video, Housefull 2, 3 and 4 can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
