Legendary filmmaker K Balachander would have celebrated his 91st Birthday on July 9 if he hadn’t left for heavenly abode. The director and writer spent more than five decades of his life working in theatre, cinema and television industries. Balachander, who started his career as a teacher and then turned to filmmaking, has made more than 100 films in his career spanning over 50 years.

Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sridevi, Prakash Raj, Vivek were all introduced to the film industry by K Balachander. His movies are as relevant today as the day they were released because of the social importance these movies had as well as the honest representation of the world he created in his movies.
