Popular face on social media, Ankush Bahunguna has made his debut in acting. Ankush has shared his struggles and journey with auditions and gigs with his followers and they too are thrilled now that he got his first acting job. He made his debut with a short film, Badboli Bhavna, which is streaming on Amazon miniTV. The short, which is about what goes behind the scene of a social media influencer, has been winning the hearts of the people since its release. Ankush plays the role of a husband to a social media influencer, Bhavna, played by Apoorva Arora. In a conversation with OTTplay, the actor spoke about his journey and experience working on the film. He also shared his other favourite shows on OTT and recommended the following to his fans and followers. Check them out:

Ankush says Friends is his go-to watch. "I don't think it needs a recommendation," he says. The epic series Friends, though ended in 2004, is still watched widely by people across the globe. One of the most popular shows of all time, and it often trends on Netflix to date. The series, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, revolves around six friends in their 20s and 30s, living in Manhattan. The entire series ranked within the top ten of the final television season ratings and ultimately, rose to No 1 rank in its eighth season. The series stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. The series received 62 Emmy Award nominations and won the Outstanding Comedy Series award in 2002. It was also one of the most-watched shows during the pandemic. The cast of the series returned for a reunion special last year, which aired on HBO Max.
The actor said he loved the show Human. Directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh, the series is based on unethical human drug testing. It revolves around one of the country’s top neurosurgeons, Dr. Gauri Nath, played by Shefali Shah and her protege, Dr. Saira Sabjawal whose lives go upside down after a shocking discovery. The series talks about the collateral damage caused due to fast-tracked drug trials for financial gains in a gripping tale that spins around innocent lives being lost to greed. The stories revolve around the value of human life, medical malpractice, class divide, and the fatal ramifications of fast-paced medical science.
Directed by Ram Madhvani, the series marked the comeback and OTT debut of Sushmita Sen. The show is based on a Dutch show, titled Penoza. It revolves around a single and independent mother of three children, Aarya (Sushmita Sen) who can go to any extent to protect her family while she also joins some gangsters to avenge the murder of her husband. The show received positive responses and Sushmita Sen's performance was especially praised. It was also nominated for an Emmy Award for the best drama series. The show was renewed for another season and the new set of episodes were released in December last year. The show also stars Chandrachur Singh, Namit Das, Ankur Bhatia and Vikas Kumar.
Made in Heaven
Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the romantic web series is about the lives of two wedding planners in Delhi, Tara and Karan. The drama tells the story of the two protagonists against the backdrop of lavish and big fat Indian weddings. It stars Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora, Kalki Koechlin and Shivani Raghuvanshi. The show got Arjun an Emmy nomination. The nine episodes of the show were directed by Nitya Mehra, Zoya Akhtar, Prashant Nair and Alankrita Shrivastava. It has been renewed for another season and was one of the shows announced by Amazon Prime Video during their See Where It Takes You event. Shooting for Season 2 was completed in April this year and it is expected to release by the end of the year.
This Is Us
Ankush says the family drama is a great show and gets him teary-eyed every time he watches an episode. "I cry watching every episode," he says. Created by Dan Fogelman, the show revolves around families - Jack and his wife who are expecting triplets; a successful actor Kevin; a stylish New York-based businessman, Randall. The story chronicles their lives and families at different time frames. It stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, among others. The show is back now with its final and sixth season. The last episode of the show will be out on May 24.
Schitt's Creek
Ankush calls it a 'pathbreaking' show. Created by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, the show tells the story of ups and downs in the lives of the once wealthy Rose family. After their business manager embezzles their family business, the family is forced to relocate to a small town, Schitt's Creek. The way they adjust to their new lifestyle, living in a motel is what forms the crux of the story. The show stars Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy and Jennifer Robertson, among others. The show opened to positive reviews and has a cult following. It is praised especially for its writing, comedy and performances. It won almost all major comedy awards at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the first comedy show to have won all the seven awards at the awards.
