Often in pop culture, we are shown drastic teenage transformations, giving us hopes of going through similar life-changing transitions which will finally help us in making sense of life. But what about those awkward adults who are still figuring out there on a journey of self-discovery and who didn't have some metamorphic change? We are looking at those awkward adults, like Phoebe Buffay in Friends, with their quirks and how they own it instead of changing to fit into society’s expected mould.

Here is a look at seven series starring awkward adults who taught us to accept our inner awkward self.

8.5OTTplay Rating
Starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, this realistic comedy follows Fleabag, an awkward adult trying to cope up through dry wit with everything that is going wrong in her life, including a tragedy involving death and her love life, as she breaks the fourth wall. It also stars Oscar winner Olivia Coleman and Andrew Scott.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
8.2OTTplay Rating
In this musical series, Rebecca Bunch stars as Rachel Bloom, a smart, successful lawyer, living in New York City, who decides to move to West Covina, California, in a bid to pursue her ex-boyfriend from high school camp. Rachel breaks out into musical numbers throughout the episodes and is an awkward woman, coming across as crazy, which is debatable.
BoJack Horseman
9OTTplay Rating
An animated series with a speaking horse and other animals would have been a riot right? But not this one. A deeply philosophical comedy with the titular character drowning in self-loathing and alcohol. Bojack, an erstwhile famous actor, decides to reclaim his dignity and tries to leave behind his self-destructive ways. It deals with sex, substance abuse and depression.
I May Destroy You
8.3OTTplay Rating
Inspired by director Michaela Coel’s life, Coel essays the role of Arabella, an author, in this dark drama. Following a sexual assault, she tries to piece together what happened that fateful night as she goes stumbling through life as a 20 something awkwardly and anxiously.
The Good Place
8.5OTTplay Rating
You might not have figured out your life while you were alive but what if you do when you die? This comedic philosophical drama features a set of four recently deceased people who have been sent to the “good place”. Follow Eleanor, a pharmaceutical salesperson who tries to become a better person with the help of Chidi Anagonye, a professor of ethics and philosophy and an awkward indecisive mess and forms a bond with him along with Tahani and Jason.
8OTTplay Rating
This dark comedy with crime interwoven in its fabric follows Bill Hader as the titular character. He carries out assassinations for a living. When he discovers the joys of acting, he decides to leave his past life behind but the question is, will that life leave him?
Derry Girls
7.9OTTplay Rating
This might be considered cheating since this show follows a couple of teens, instead of adults but this show needs to be on this list! Revolving around Erin and her gang of awkward teens during the Northern Ireland conflict in the 1990s, where they grow up surrounded by armed police, the show depicts that they are like any other group of regular teenagers with the same problems: school, boys and navigating life.
