Kannada cinema’s Abhinaya chakravarthy Kichcha Sudeep turns a year older. The actor-director-producer has time-and-again proven that like fine wine, he’s only getting better with age; his star status creating waves far beyond Sandalwood in other south film industries and Bollywood. As fans await with bated breath for news on his upcoming releases Kotigobba 3 and Vikrant Rona, here’s a look at some of the actor’s work that you can binge on OTT today.

Dabangg 3 marked Sudeep’s return to Bollywood after nearly a decade. The 2019 action-comedy, directed by Prabhudeva and with Salman Khan returning in the lead as ASP Chulbul Pandey, had Sudeep play chief antagonist Bali Singh.

Also, a 2019 release, Sudeep’s Pailwaan was a much-talked about project for the actor’s intense physical transformation to get into the skin of a boxer and wrestler in the film. Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker S Krishna, the sports drama also had Suniel Shetty returning to Kannada cinema in a pivotal role.

2011’s Kempegowda was the Kannada remake of the Tamil hit Singam and had Sudeep paired with Ragini Dwivedi. Sudeep played the title role in the film that he directed. It also had a stellar star cast, including P Ravi Shankar, Girish Karnad, J Karthik, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Sharan and many others.

Although Nani was the hero of SS Rajamouli’s 2012 film Eega, there is no denying that Sudeep as the chief antagonist fighting a GGI fly quite literally stole the limelight. The role fetched Kichcha praise from the likes of Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu and Ram Gopal Varma, among others.

Yet another Sudeep directorial, this film paired the actor with Ramya. The lead pair’s chemistry in this love story apart, Raghu Dixit’s compositions were also major highlights of the film.

Hebbuli was cinematographer S Krishna’s second as director, and first with Sudeep in the lead. The film brought Amala Paul to Kannada cinema and saw Sudeep team up with Crazy Star Ravichandran.

This 2006 Kannada film was the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Autograph and marked Sudeep’s directorial debut. The film had a warm reception at the box office and although composer-singer Rajesh Ramanath retained the original tunes, KS Chitra won a Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer (Female).
