Much furore surrounds Emmy nominations as they recognise the crème de la crème of the small screen. This year was no different with some of our pandemic binges making the cut for the prestigious award. Surprisingly, superheroes have also made it to the nomination list this year with shows like The Boys and WandaVision nominated in various categories. Controversial reality show, Arranged Marriage also made the cut with Emily in Paris turning quite a few heads with its name in the race.

We are counting down our picks of sequels of series we can't wait to watch which have been nominated for this prestigious award.

Ted Lasso
8.2OTTplay Rating
This series Lasso’d our hearts with its sharp writing, well fleshed-out characters and unique plotline. The show revolves around Coach Ted Lasso who has been appointed as the coach for AFC Richmond, a British Soccer Team. Winning or losing isn’t important to him; his players are. Jason Sudeikis essays the titular character, accompanied by Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt. We are giving you five reasons to watch this wholesome series here.
The Boys
9.1OTTplay Rating
In a surprising twist, superheroes have joined the list of contenders for this year's Emmys. This dark comedy, with morally grey characters and outright evil superheroes who “protect” the city, features adrenaline-pumping action along with some gore.
The Crown
8.7OTTplay Rating
Based on the British monarchy, The Crown is leading with the most numbers of nominations. This addicting drama took over the world due to the intrigue and awe that has surrounded the British Royal family since ages. Claire Foy had portrayed a young Queen Elizabeth II in the first two seasons with Academy Award-winner Olivia Coleman essaying the same character in her middle age. Political rivalries, personal intrigues and romance comprises The Crown.
7.1OTTplay Rating
Based on Julia Quinns’s novel, The Duke and I, Bridgerton, the Regency-era London drama, was an instant sensation. It incorporates the beloved fake relationship trope which ultimately leads to turns real. Rege-Jean Page might not be reprising his role as the dashing Duke of Hastings, yet there is so much to look forward to including how Lady Whistledown’s story will progress, the anonymous author of the scandalous society newsletter, whose identity was revealed at the end of season 1.
The Mandalorian
9.3OTTplay Rating
Audiences went gaga over Baby Yoda, introduced in The Mandalorian. This series has tied with The Crown with 24 nominations. It follows the events in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi, taking a leap of five years. Pedro Pascal (Narcos) stars as the titular character, a lone bounty hunter on the run after being hired to recover “The Child”.
The Handmaid's Tale
8.7OTTplay Rating
The Handmaid’s Tale follows The Crown in terms of most nominations. The hit dystopian show, adapted from Margaret Atwood’s standalone novel of the same name, follows June (Elisabeth Moss), a handmaid in the family of Commander Waterford. In this shocking reality, where Gilead, a part of the United States, is facing plummeting birth rates and environmental catastrophes, women are treated as properties, only for breeding kids for families who are in power. It is one of the few series which albeit has been adapted from the book, taking a rather unique approach, but still maintains the essence of the book and remains a fan favourite. A must watch.
Emily in Paris
7.1OTTplay Rating
Emily in Paris has been nominated for this year’s Emmy, turning quite a few heads. Call it a guilty pleasure as you live vicariously through the beautiful views of Paris and decadent clothes lining up the racks as our clueless protagonist Emily explores Paris as an employee working in a digital marketing agency who ends up becoming an influencer.
