Happy Birthday Kiara Advani: Watch the actor’s popular films streaming online
Hia Datta

Last Updated:

Kiara Advani debuted in Hindi films with Fugly. The actor then went on to play a real-life character in reel life, that of Sakshi Rawat (MS Dhoni’s wife) in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. She gradually made it up to wider notice and appreciation with her performance in the Netflix anthology Lust Stories and from there to Kabir Singh and her latest project Shershaah, it’s been lovely, just like her on screen and off screen self.

Here are six of her films to mark her birthday.

1

Guilty

5.6
Guilty: This film created a lot of buzz around the time, during and after it premiered on Netflix, dividing the viewers into two sides, but what it did importantly enough, was to revive and reconvene the conversations around the #MeToo movement which had lulled down by that time. Kiara plays Nanki Dutta, a bright and fiery college student with her academic dreams. She is thrown in a quandary when another fellow student, Tanu Kumar (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, whom she never liked, accuses her boyfriend and the college heartthrob Vijay (Gurfateh Singh Pirzada) of rape on Valentine’s Day. Kiara does a good job of playing Nanki as a young woman battling her demons while trying to sift through the fog to reach the truth of the matter.

Lust Stories

6.7
Lust Stories: Megha played by Kiara Advani is a young school teacher who gets engaged and married to an office worker Paras (Vicky Kaushal). She longs for the bliss and pleasure of physical intimacy that her husband feels but not her. Through the short film in the anthology of four films, director Karan Johar depicts a slightly comic yet sincere exploration of a woman’s sexuality in a patriarchal society that still ties a woman’s dreams and her physicality to being a womb and a child-bearer above all. Kiara strikes the right chord as the sweet yet sweetly assertive newlywed bride.

Indoo Ki Jawani

3
Indoo Ki Jawaani: Indira Gupta, known as Indoo (Kiara Advani), is a young desirable young girl who lives in Ghaziabad. Indoo is waiting for love and the right man to sweep her off her feet but is stuck with a boyfriend who can’t hold it in his pants. Men are attracted to her but she isn’t interested. When she finds her boyfriend cheating on her, she breaks up with him and fixes a date from a dating app, wholly unaware that her life is about to change that night. Though the film was held down by a patchy script, and an outlandish storyline, Kiara played it cute and chattery as Indoo.

Good Newwz

6.4
Good Newwz: Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) and Deepti Batra (Kareena Kapoor) and Honey Batra (Diljit Dosanjh) and Monika Batra (Kiara Advani), are two married couples with the same surname. The couples opt for in-vitro fertilisation to have a successful go at having babies. A blunder at the clinic gets the sperms of Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) and Honey Batra (Diljit Dosanjh) end up in the embryo of the wife of the other Batra. What follows is a seriocomic story that rediscovers the meaning of motherhood in today’s times. Kiara plays the chirpy, hyper-happy Punjabi woman nicely, warming you up to her naivete and quirks.
5

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

7.8
M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story: This Sushant Singh Rajput starrer biopic based on M.S. Dhoni traces his life story from scratch to the meteoric rise as one of the most well-loved and successful batsmen in Indian men’s cricket. The personal life events that shaped his journey, topped with Sushant’s understated and precise, internalised performance as Captain Cool makes it a well-made watch. Kiara plays Sakshi Singh Dhoni, Dhoni’s wife and love in life.

Kabir Singh

7.3
Kabir Singh: This 2019 Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial unleashed a storm of emphatic debates and discussions on the depiction of toxic love and masculinity, or not. While the theatre-going audience loved the film so much that it became a huge box office success, many critics panned the film and pulled it apart over its alleged glorification of toxic masculinity and misogyny. Shahid Kapoor plays Kabir Singh, a hot-headed, arrogant, aggressive but brilliant senior medical student at the Delhi Institute of Medical Sciences, who loves football and riding motorcycles. He falls in love at first sight with a demure first-year student Preeti Sikka (Kiara Advani). Their whirlwind romance is put to the test of circumstances caused by the disapproval of Preeti’s family and Kabir’s own, serious anger management issues.
