R Madhavan is celebrating his birthday on June 1 and has turned 52 this year. The actor is currently gearing up for the release of his directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. In the film, the actor plays the titular role of Nambi Narayanan, and fans can't wait to witness it on the big screen. In his nearly three-decade-long journey, Madhavan has made a mark on himself in Indian cinema. The actor started with a Hindi TV show, Yule Love Stories, on ZEE TV in 1993.

Soon after that, he made it to the big screen with an English film titled Inferno in 1997. His first Indian film is the Kannada rom-com Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi, which was released in the year 1998. Since then, there has been no turning back for Madhavan. The actor has been a part of several Indian language films, including Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Not just that, Madhavan was among the first Indian actors to make it to OTT back in 2018 with the hit Amazon Prime Video series, Breathe.

On the occasion of Madhavan's birthday, let's take a look at the actor's debut in several languages as well as his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.

Check it out below:

Don Wilson, Deepti Bhatnagar, and R. Madhavan star in Inferno, also known as Operation Cobra, a 1997 film directed by Fred Olen Ray. Other key players include Evan Lurie, Michael Cavanaugh, and Tané McClure. R. Madhavan's debut film is also his first in English. Kyle Connors is played by Don Wilson, an Interpol agent who travels to India on a revenge mission against the terrorist who killed his partner.
Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi
Srinivas directed Shanti Shanti Shanti, a romantic comedy-drama released in Kannada in 1998. Abbas, R Madhavan, Prakash Raj, Prema, Avni Vasa, and Satish Shah played the key parts in the film. The film gained notoriety for a succession of creative ideas in the Kannada cinema industry as it was being made. It was the first film to feature both a website and six-track DTS audio. R Madhavan's previous film was in English, hence this is his first foray into Indian cinema.
Mani Ratnam's 2000 Tamil romantic drama film Alaipayuthey stars R Madhavan (in his Tamil debut) and Shalini and was written, co-produced, and directed by him. The film examines the challenges of marital life between two young individuals who elope, as well as the maturation of love among urban Indians torn between tradition and modernity. AR Rahman composed the score and the soundtrack.
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein
Gautham Vasudev Menon wrote and directed the 2001 release Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, starring R. Madhavan, Dia Mirza, and Saif Ali Khan. Despite its lack of commercial success at the time of its release, the picture has now become a cult classic.
