Radha Ravi has always been in the news for several reasons, sometimes for the movies but more often for his controversial remarks. Son of famous Tamil actor MR Radha, he was introduced by Kamal Haasan to the industry. Although his roles in films lately have had limited screen time, his terrific screen presence helps him excel as a performer. OTTplay recommends some of his must-watch performances on his birthday;

Kadhalukku Mariyadhai
8.6OTTplay Rating
In this Vijay-starrer, Radha Ravi plays James, the elder brother of the heroine who dislikes Jeeva (Vijay). He is brimming with anger till the end but has some scenes where he breaks down and cries thinking about his sister. He is also the first one to apologise to Jeeva’s father.

In this Mysskin-directorial gothic horror, Radha Ravi plays an unnamed father of the girl who haunts the protagonist’s apartment. There is a poignant scene where the father meets the ghost at the hero’s apartment and breaks down begging his daughter’s spirit to return with him. He also appears at the climax for a crucial reveal. It is said that Radha Ravi was invited to the audio launch of Mysskin’s Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum, where he asked Mysskin for a role in a film. Pisaasu is one of Radha Ravi’s best emotional performances.
7.2OTTplay Rating
In this courtroom drama, Radha Ravi plays Judge Dhanapal who presides over the case of the advocate Sakthi, played by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Rather than playing a stereotypical, inactive judge, Radha Ravi is given the role of an easily irritated, sarcastic character whose expressions are enough to put a smile on the viewer’s face. There is a particularly hilarious scene where Judge Dhanapal fumes at the character played by Prakash Raj and Radha Ravi is a class apart in it.
Irudhi Suttru
7.7OTTplay Rating
In Irudhi Suttru, Radha Ravi is cast as Muralikrishnan, a well-wisher of Prabhu Selvaraj, essayed by R Madhavan. He supports Prabhu to the fullest but often ends up showing his emotional side. In the climax, there's a beautiful scene where he sobs with happiness; that alone is enough to tell us why Radha Ravi is an actor par excellence.
Jil Jung Juk
6.9OTTplay Rating
In this Tamil black comedy starring Siddharth in the lead role, Radha Ravi plays a sarcastic and sharp-tongued gangster who goes by the name Rolex Rawther. Rawther hires three protagonists to smuggle drugs, but they betray him and run away with the loot. Now, Rawther is in the pursuit of the trio. The movie also featured the song ‘Shoot the Kuruvi’ in which Radha Ravi makes a hilarious appearance.
5.3OTTplay Rating
Junga is one of the shortest roles that Radha Ravi has played in his career. Radha Ravi is cast as Sopraj, a parody of Marlon Brando's Godfather. Radha Ravi’s impression of Godfather’s meek yet strong voice is absolute in the movie. Sopraj summons Junga to discuss the fee for undertaking criminal activities. The scene showcases Radha Ravi’s terrific performance in a parody character.
