Kireedam starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role was released in 2003 and marked the debut of AL Vijay who has delivered many hits in the Tamil film industry ever since. His latest film is the multilingual Thalaivi, a biopic of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha starring Kangana Ranaut and Aravind Swamy, which is expected to release soon. Marking the debut of Amy Jackson to Indian cinema, the film cast Arya in the lead role as Ilam Parithi, a Tamil village boy. Parithi is a brave man who is in the washermen clan and also a wrestler. He opposes the British whenever he gets a chance. He meets Amy (Amy) and they fall for each other. He fondly calls her Durai Ammal. However, they are separated due to circumstances surrounding the freedom struggles in India. After sixty years, Amy is back, as an ageing lady and she is searching for her lost lover to return a souvenir.

The film stars Vikram as an intellectually disabled Krishna who lives with his daughter Nila (Sara Arjun). Krishna lives for his daughter. Nila happens to meet her aunt Shweta (Amala Paul) at school and the latter is shocked. She is keen to take Nila away from Krishna and give her a better life. Anuradha, a budding advocate who is moved by the story, is on a mission to help Krishna get justice.

This political thriller starring Vijay and Amala Paul in lead roles features a Nayakan model gangster movie. Vishwa (Vijay), a dancer in Sydney is under the impression that his father Ramadurai (Sathyaraj) is a businessman while in truth, he is a ‘gangster’ in Mumbai. The Mumbai police capture Ramadurai by cheating Vishwa. As a result, Ramadurai is killed. Now the mantle has fallen onto Vishwa to rise and protect the people as well as avenge his father's death.

Krishna (Prabhu Deva) marries an innocent Devi ( Tamannaah) unwillingly. She is naive and conservative. As they move to a new house, her personality changes. She calls herself Ruby and dances with fervour impressing an actor Raj ( Sonu Sood), who asks her to be his heroine in his next film. Diya is a horror film starring Sai Pallavi in the lead role. The film packs in a social message against abortion. The film shares some similarities with the Malayalam movie Kaanakanmani. The plot focuses on Thulasi (Sai Pallavi), who had to abort her child when she was 19 because of the compulsion from her family. After five years, she is happily married to her boyfriend. When her parents and relatives visit her, they end up getting murdered by some unknown force. Does it have to do something with the unborn child?

A musical dance film starring Prabhu Deva and Ditya Bhande. Lakshmi ( Ditya Bhande) is a ten-year-old who loves to dance. Her mother Nandhini isn’t exactly supportive of her daughter’s pursuits. Soon Lakshmi catches the eye of Vijay Krishna (Prabhu Deva). When Lakshmi fails the first round, Vijay enters the scene. It is then revealed that Vijay is a former dance champion and Lakshmi’s father.
