Anticipation is building up for the much-awaited Nayanthara starrer Netrikann that is premiering on August 13 on Disney+ Hotstar. We get to see the Lady Superstar in a new avatar in the form of a visually impaired woman. We have earlier seen her play physically impaired characters in movies like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Kolaiyuthir Kaalam. This will be another interesting challenge taken up by her in the upcoming crime-thriller movie. Many other movies in Kollywood featured characters that were visually impaired and were well-acclaimed movies. Here is a list of 10 movies that carry the same theme.

The songs of the movie are mind-blowingly fantastic, being composed by the maestro himself, Illayaraaja. The movie achieved cult status and you will be able to see one of the best Haasan’s performances in this movie.

The movie is a cult classic for the actors’ memorable performances and its vibrating soundtracks. One of the reasons why you can watch this movie is for its song “Thendral Vandhu”, which is still being played on loop on our smartphones. The visuals of the song were aesthetically taken as was the rest of the movie. The movie is known for the fierceness of Arya’s character and the plight that is faced by beggars, even in real life. Mixed with Bala’s direction, the rawness of the reality is even more amplified on screen that is worthy to be watched.

Starring Vikram in the role of a visually impaired musician yet again, thaandavam talks about the mysterious past of Vikram’s character that led him to become visually challenged. It was a commercial success that garnered immense appreciation for Vikram’s acting as a visually impaired man after Kasi. It may not be a mass-action movie but it is nevertheless entertaining and edge-of-your-seat gripping.

This movie also shares a similar plotline to the upcoming Nayan thriller Netrikann. Starring Udhayanidhi Stalin in the role of a visually challenged singer, it is the story of his character on a quest to retrieve his kidnapped girlfriend from the hands of a vicious serial killer. It is not construed to be a regular psych thriller as the antagonist’s depressing side of the story is shown. Stalin’s performance in the movie was appreciated, as it was also the first time he played in a deep and intense role. The movie also has melting tunes that were composed by the maestro himself. You can watch this movie for its unusual psych story and the actors’ performances in the movie.
