Lose yourself in Neil Gaiman's fantasy universe with these adaptations

Based on Neil Gaiman’s novella of the same name, Coraline is an animated film following the story of the titular character, a young girl who has moved into a new home with her parents. While exploring different parts of the house, Coraline discovers a hidden door leading to a strange parallel universe, whose residents seem to have a strange, sinister plan for her. The movie was critically acclaimed and did well at the box office.

This fantasy comedy series is based on the novel of the same name, which Gaiman co-authored with Terry Pratchett. It follows an angel-demon duo, who have lived on Earth since it came into being, as representatives of Heaven and Hell respectively. When the Antichrist is born on Earth, whose coming-of-age will bring forth the final battle between Heaven and Hell, and vanquish humankind, the duo tries their best to prevent such an occurrence. Another season of the show is in the works.

A romantic fantasy, Stardust tells the story of a young man named Tristan, who sees a star falling in the neighbouring kingdom, and promises to gift it to the love of his life. Meanwhile, an evil witch is also out to retrieve the star, whose heart she wants to cut out to gain immortality for herself and her witch sisters.

Lucifer, the titular character of the popular television series, is based on a DC comics character created by Neil Gaiman in his comic book The Sandman. The series follows the Devil, Lucifer Morningstar, who gets bored of life in Hell and decides to open a nightclub in Los Angeles. He subsequently helps out a police detective, whom he’s intrigued about.

This series follows the story of a man named Shadow, an ex-convict recently released from prison, whose wife dies shortly before his release. Once out, he familiarises himself with a sharply dressed stranger named Wednesday, who wants Shadow to work for him. One event leads to another, with Shadow finding himself a pawn in a war amongst gods, old and new.

This science-fiction rom-com is based on the Neil Gaiman short story How to Talk to Girls at Parties. The film tells the tale of a forbidden romance between a human and an alien, who meet when the latter’s species come to Earth with a mysterious purpose in mind. The film stars Elle Fanning and Alex Sharp in lead roles.
