The big M’s of Mollywood, Mohanlal and Mammootty, have appeared together in movies more than a few times and most of those combinations have resulted in blockbusters. It was in the film Ahimsa (1981), directed by I V Sasi, that both the actors united for the first time. In fact Mammootty even won the Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actor for his performance in the film. In the film Padayottam (1983), Mammootty portrayed the role of Mohanlal’s father.

They have even done cameo roles in each other’s movies as themselves. In the film Manu Uncle (1988), Mohanlal appeared in a cameo role. Similarly, in the film Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Mammootty can be seen in a cameo appearance. Both the superstars were most recently seen together in the film Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty in which Mohanlal did a cameo role as himself.
