Will Ferrell is one of the best comedians working today. With his eccentricity and energy, he has a certain knack to find the funny bone. Impossible to handle with his loud and blatant delivery of lines, he has created a space for himself. Ferrell who became an established member of Saturday Night Live in the ’90s later went on to be a part of the “Frat Pack”, a group of talented comedians that worked together in many comedies since the ’90s like Jack Black and Ben Stiller. With a great ability to sketch characters and turn himself into the role, Will Ferrell is a comedic genius.

Let’s take a look at six of his films to watch on his birthday:

7.4OTTplay Rating
This animated flick from DreamWorks Animation is a movie about a super intelligent-alien supervillain, Megamind (Will Ferrell). Growing up amongst humans in Metro City, he turns into a villain. With the story of Megamind and his foe Metroman, the movie is an entertaining watch. With an ensemble voice cast including Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross, Brad Pitt, J.K Simmons and Ben Stiller, Megamind is a definite entertainer with plenty of laughs.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
7OTTplay Rating
Considered as one of Will Ferrell’s best works, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is the debut directorial work of Adam McKay. The movie is about Ron (Will Ferrell) a famous news anchor for a local television station. Co-written by Ferrell, the idea came into existence after he saw an interview from a sexist news anchor from the ’70s. One of his best comical creations, the actor seamlessly portrays the politically incorrect, misogynistic Ron Burgundy in a satirical comedy that works.
6.8OTTplay Rating
A product of Ben Stiller’s direction, Zoolander is an action-comedy that went on to be a cult classic. In a story set in the middle of the fashion industry, Will Ferrell plays a fashion mogul who goes against the hero of the movie, Zoolander (Ben Stiller). With weird hairdos, eccentric fashion choices and an array of guest appearances, Zoolander is a must-watch.
Old School
7.4OTTplay Rating
Co-written and directed by Todd Phillips, it is about three depressed 30 somethings played by Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Farrell, setting up a fraternity to relive their glorious college days. Frank the Tank, played by Will Ferrell, kickstarted his career. A hilarious comedy, Old School is a testament to Will Ferrell’s comedy prowess.
Step Brothers
7.4OTTplay Rating
This is the story of two grown men who still live with their single parents, forced to live together as brothers when their parents marry each other. The very idea of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly playing the 40 somethings living with their parents is hilarious. Putting them together in a room is a recipe for eccentric comedy, and that is exactly what you get from this movie directed by Adam McKay.
The Other Guys
6.8OTTplay Rating
This is a buddy cop action comedy directed by Adam McKay. With the chemistry of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, the film has a bunch of funny moments that get you cracking up. With a few well-done action scenes, The Other Guys become a movie that you simply can't hate. The movie has a star-studded cast with Michael Keaton, Eva Mendes, Steve Coogan, Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson making it one for repeated viewings.
