When her distant step-daughter is gangraped and the attackers walk scott-free from their trial, Devki decides to take things into her own hands. While a thriller, the movie deals with a mother’s thirst for justice, which stems from her love for her daughter.

This Malayalam movie is a powerful and lovable tale of a mother and her daughter. Vanaja (Urvashi) and her adult daughter Achu (Meera Jasmine) live a happy life. Their life is turned upside down when Vanaja does not give blessings to Ijo (Naren) to marry Achu. Their family is soon broken, before some deep secrets are revealed. The movie has romance, comedy and drama with a deep emotional core.

One of Mani Ratnam’s finest works, Kannathil Muthamittal is the story of T. Amudha, who is the adopted daughter of Thiruchelvan (Madhavan) and Indira (Simarn). When Amudha learns about her past, she wants to find her real mother, who is from Sri Lanka. The family soon make the trip to the country torn by civil war, in the hopes of finding Amudha’s biological parents. The film is a story with great depth and Simran and Nandita Das play two mothers who leave quite an impact through their roles.

This musical drama backed by Aamir Khan is the story of a young girl Insiya (Zaira Wasim) who aspires to become a musician but has to face the wrath of her strict father. She follows her dreams by posting songs on the internet, all while concealing her identity. Her mother is a victim of domestic abuse but loves her daughter and even helps her grow professionally. The story is one to be seen with the family.
