Shah Rukh Khan is one of the few legends who could play a romantic hero and switch to a deadly villian in the spit of a second. It is probably why the actor is called King Khan of Bollywood.

Over the years, SRK has experimented with his roles. The actor is loved by his fans for the very same reason - because he is not scared of trying something new and almost always aces the role.

Here are a few films where the 'King Of Romance' chose to look the other way and yet, won over his fans...

The first time Shah Rukh Khan broke character, he gave the world memorable characters like Rahul Mehra from Darr and Ajay Sharma in Baazigar. While in Darr, he played an obsessed lover to Kkkiran, the actor showed his grey shade in Baazigar, almost making it seem like he had a dual personality. Darr was the story of Kiran (Juhi Chawla) planning a wedding with Sunil Malhotra (Sunny Deol), unaware about her obsessed lover, Mehra. Meanwhile, Baazigar was the story of Sharma seeking revenge from a business tycoon Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil). He gets closer to his daughters Priya (Kajol) and Seema (Shilpa Shetty Kundra) for the same reason. Both the films can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

SRK played the role of Don and Vijay in Farhan Akhtar's 2006 release. Interestingly, Vijay is working with the cops to arrest Don, who is leading an international gang of smugglers. The film also featured 'Junglee Billi' Roma (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), who was assigned to bring Don into custody. It can be streamed on Netflix India and Amazon Prime Video.

In Swades, Khan played the role of a successful scientist Mohan Bhargava. He returns to his village so he could take his grandmother Kaveri amma (Kishori Ballal) to US with him. However, instead, he finds out that his heart lies in the village and decides to help the villagers out. The film can be viewed on Netflix in India.
Chak De! India

Khan played the role of hockey coach Kabir Khan in Chak De India. With hockey stick in his hand, he had just one dream - to see his team of hockey players win the tropy. He needed the trophy for his own sake, for the sport and for India. The film can be viewed on YouTube.
My Name Is Khan

SRK played the role of Rizvan Khan in My Name Is Khan. Despite being detected Asperger's syndrome, Khan is shown as a genius who can repair almost anything. The actor travels to US to meet the president and tell him that he is not a terrorist just because his surname is Khan. My Name Is Khan can be viewed on Disney+Hotstar.
Dear Zindagi

In Dear Zindagi, Khan played the role of psychologist Dr. Jehangir Khan. He was seen as a character who had his life sorted out and thus, was able to help others in the process. Dear Zindagi was a film revolving around Kaira. She played the role of every-other-girl who battles depression and embraces the feeling despite personal difficulties. The film can be viewed on Netflix in India.
