Remakes or adaptations are often scoffed at by some critics and movie-lovers. But a remake can make a great watch if it is adapted well with exceptional script and direction, and creates the impact that the original film did. Comedy and horror are two genres that cannot be replicated that easily. For the American comedy Mrs Doubtfire to be remade into a Kamal Hassan-starrer Tamil comedy Avvai Shanmugi, the script had undergone several changes so that it can relate to the Indian audience.
