Raanjhanaa is the story of Kundan (Dhanush), who loves Zoya (Sonam) since childhood and wishes to marry her. After convincing Kundan that they cannot get married because of the different community they belong to, Zoya goes on to marry her boyfriend, Jasjeet (Abhay Deol). After learning the real reason for her denial, Kundan creates a ruckus that turns the story into a tragedy.

Neerja is a biographical thriller film based on the real events and life of Neerja Bhanot. Sonam is playing the titular role in the film that is centred on the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan. The film received positive responses including National Film Awards for Best Feature Film, Filmfare Awards for Best Film (Critics) and Best Actress (Critics) for Sonam.

Sanju is a biographical film on Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, played by Ranbir Kapoor on the screen. Sonam plays the character of Sanju’s girlfriend Ruby, who leaves him because of his drug addictions. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial also features Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza and Paresh Rawal.
