Ayushmann Khurrana is a rare actor in Bollywood who takes up real topics and the stigma around them, and shuns all of it through his films.

The actor appeared in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, a film which normalized overweight women.

Years later, he featured in Badhaai Ho, which was a movie that questioned what if a grown-up man's parents expect another child.

The Aanand L Rai directorial dealt with the topic in a hilarious manner and yet put the message of normalizing talks of erectile dysfunction, out there for the audiences. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan dealt with the topic of gay love and marriage. In the role of Kartik Singh, Khurrana was a character that was deeply in love with Aman Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar). How the couple deals with marriage and their fight with the society, mainly within their families, is what the story comprises of. The film can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video.

Khurrana experimented right in his debut film Vicky Donor. He played the role of Vicky Arora, who is a sperm donor. The act of donating sperms has led to complications in Arora's real life. How he manages to solve them, is what the rest of the film is about. Vicky Donor can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video. Bala Khurrana played the role of Balmukund Shukla. He was also called Bala, the name of Amar Kaushik's film. Ironically, his character also faced hair loss and hair is also called 'Baal' in Hindi. The film, also starring Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the lead roles, addressed and later shunned all stereotypes related to both hair loss as well as skin colour. Bala can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
