Schitt's Creek has been constantly in news since the past few years. After winning 5 Emmys, the show also bagged two Golden Globe Awards for Best Acress in a Musical or Comedy TV series (Catherine O Hara) and Best Musical or Comedy TV series. The show follows the misadventures of the affluent Rose family which is suddenly left penniless and forced to move to a dusty small town of Shitt's Creek where they're forced to embrace a modest livelihood.

People have started watching the show, which brought them respite during the pandemic, all over again.

Interestingly, Schitt's Creek was not well received by many when it first released. The reason behind that was the done-and-dusted concept of a rich family gone bankrupt.

However, as time passed by, the viewers showered love on the father-son duo Eugene and Daniel Levy, who actually played the role of father and son in Schitt's Creek. Apart from their characters Johnny and David Rose, people have also been hugely praising Catherine O'Hara for her role as Moira Rose on the show.

Soon after Schitt's Creek was nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, the Levy duo spoke about their memories of the show on Saturday Night Live. Daniel had even revealed that people had started recognizing him due to Schitt's Creek, despite having previously hosted a show for MTV. However, the drawback was that they would scream "Eww" (his character's signature reaction to things that put him off) every time they saw him. Co-incidentally the gesture also spoke about the popularity of the show.

All Schitt's Creek fans would already know that the show featured David's special relationship with his sister Alexis Rose (played by Annie Murphy). However, she would constantly burst out at David and say, "Eww David" or "Oh My God David." The phrases, even when said in disgust, were perceived as an act of love.

If you are already a fan of Schitt's Creek, here are a few more shows which you would love to binge-watch...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
8.7OTTplay Rating
Brooklyn 99 is a show where the police squad has each other's back even when most of them pretend to just not care about a single thing around them. That is a concept which has been followed even in Schitt's Creek. Johnny and his nemesis Roland Schitt (the Mayor of Schitt's Creek), played by Chris Elliot, are constantly at loggerheads in Schitt's Creek, only to realize they love each other's company. Brooklyn 99 revolves around a similar concept, only this time the equation is between a sophisticated and openly gay Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) and the genius with a laid-back attitude, Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg, also producer of the show) of the 99 police squad. The show makes people laugh and yet manages to teach them a valuable lesson, which is the core of Schitt's Creek too. Brooklyn 99, just like Schitt's Creek, is available for viewing on Netflix India.
Modern Family
8.5OTTplay Rating
Modern Family, like Schitt's Creek, is one crazy ride. It is the show where a Columbian woman named Gloria (Sofia Vergara) is married to a much-elder Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill) and has a son named Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez) from her previous marriage. He is already an uncle and goes to the same school as his nephew (Luke Dunphy, played by Nolan Gould) and two nieces (Haley and Alex Dunphy, played by Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter respectively). Told you, it is one crazy ride!. And this is just the beginning of the story, which is what it is like even with Schitt's Creek. Another striking similarity between the two shows are the characters Moira (from Schitt's Creek) and Cameron Tucker (from Modern Family, played by Eric Stonestreet). Being a chubby gay character who is sensitive and loves drama, Tucker definitely is a colourful character, just like Moira. While Moira would go Ka-Kaww, Tucker would bring out his clown avatar Frizbo the minute he is hurt. Both the characters are multi-talented and do not take criticism well. Modern Family is available for viewing on Disney+Hotstar.
The Big Bang Theory
7.7OTTplay Rating
Sass is the word when it comes to the Rose family in Schitt's Creek as well as The Big Bang Theory's darling, Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons). Cooper is a genius theoretical physicist with an IQ of 187. He does not like it when others try to dictate terms to him. At the same time though, Cooper and his Bazinga are a lot of fun for the viewers. The same applies to the Rose family, who are very particular about everything in their life. However, due to their circumstances (Cooper living on rent with another roommate, Leonard Hoffstater (Johnny Galecki) and the Rose family living in Schitt's Creek after going bankrupt), they learn to adjust after a few difficult situations. The Big Bang Theory is available to Indian audiences on Netflix.
Malcolm in the Middle
Malcolm In The Middle is the story of a bright and intelligent child living in a dysfunctional family. The Rose family has the two qualities divided among their children - Alexis being the bright one, while David is the more intelligent one. In short, Malcolm in the Middle is a sandwich of The Big Bang Theory and Schitt's Creek. It is also why fans of both the shows ought to watch the show starring Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranson right away! Indian audiences can stream Malcolm In The Middle on Disney+Hotstar.
One Day at a Time
8OTTplay Rating
One Day At A Time is the story about a family sticking together through thick and thin. It is exactly what happens in Schitt's Creek too. As the name suggests, the show takes life 'One Day At A Time'. Co-incidentally that is what the Rose Family is also doing. The iconic show, which has won Emmy for editing of the comedy series, stars Justin Machado and Todd Grinnell in the lead roles. It is available for streaming on Netflix India.
