Tina Fey has made a name for herself as one of the leading ladies in comedy. From humble beginnings as part of an improv comedy group, Fey has risen to the ranks of comedic greatness, with her name attached to some of the most successful comedies television has witnessed to date. She has won several accolades for her comedic work, including the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, of which she became the youngest recipient in the prize’s history. But that’s not all, with a bestselling memoir and a Tony and Grammy award in her name, she has also proved that comedy is not the only thing she is a master of.

Mean Girls

The plot of the movie is based on a book called Queen Bees and Wannabes and in part based on Fey’s own high school experiences. It follows the story of a home-schooled young girl who is thrust into the unforgiving environment of high school, rife with social hierarchies and cliques. Tina Fey impeccably nails the reality of high school life in a way that combines humour and authenticity.

When a new executive tries to spruce up the show’s ratings by bringing in new talent, Liz scrambles to keep up, all the while trying to get a hold on her personal life as well. 30 Rock is said to be one of the highlights of Fey’s career, whose talents on the show have received much praise.

Sent onto earth in a pod from his home planet, the young blue alien lands into prison and grows up around criminals. When he finally destroys his long time enemy, the superhero Metro Man, Megamind realizes that he has lost his purpose in life, which he seems to regain by getting acquainted with a headstrong reporter, voiced by Tina Fey. Fey proved that she does not have to make an appearance onscreen to wow viewers with the quality of her voice work on the movie.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s dynamic makes it a buddy flick worth watching.
