Bharath made his acting debut in the sleeper hit Boys directed by Shankar. The film saw him as Babu Kalyanam a.k.a Bob Galy. He played the best friend of Munna (Siddharth), the film’s protagonist. Since then Bharath has given us a handful of entertaining films. OTTplay recommends some of his best movies to watch, as the actor turned 38 this Wednesday.

Boys features Bharath as Babu Kalyanam, fondly addressed by his friends as Bob Galy, a play on the singer Bob Marley’s name. Bharath plays the best friend of Munna (Siddharth) and supports him when the latter’s parents disown him because of his relationship with Harini (Genelia). Babu is also a member of their music band and also provides comic relief.

Bharath gained fans in Malayalam with his debut in this Jayaraj’s vigilante thriller. Bharath plays Vivek, one among the four engineering graduates determined to eradicate corruption. They cut the hands of corrupt officials in cold blood and soon become a target for police. There is also a subplot featuring Vivek and his lover Divya (Gopika). The song “Lajjavathiye” featuring Bharath and Gopika, composed by Jassie Gift became a cult hit.

This family drama casts Bharath as Krishnan, son of a strict, moody father Thirumalai. Krishnan falls for Janani, his uncle’s daughter. Their relationship faces opposition from both families and both get thrown out of their houses. Krishnan marries Janani and starts working in a poultry farm, gradually gaining wealth through his sincere work. Thirumalai, who is happy about his son’s situation, hides it from his family. Now it is up to Krishnan to bury the hatchet.

Bharath is cast opposite Kajal Aggarwal in this family action thriller. Pazhani (Bharath) is released from jail after 15 years and works for his sister Karpagambal (Khushbu) as her driver, without revealing his identity. Karpagambal is still mad at her brother for the murder he committed many years ago. Once she realises the truth, she forgives him. Meanwhile, her husband Jeevanandham (Biju Menon) decides to marry his mistress and to get rid of her. Now it is up to Pazhani to protect his sister. He uses every trick in the book to get Jeevanandham to register the property under Karpagambal’s name, which leaves the former penniless.

This R. Kannan movie is the remake of the blockbuster Bollywood movie Jab We Met. Here, Bharath plays Shakthi, a struggling MD of a business conglomerate. Depressed with continuous failures in his personal and professional life, Shakthi ditches his company one morning and boards a train without any destination. There he meets Anjana (Tamannaah), a talkative girl who only sees life in a positive light and turns his world topsy turvy. Where are Shakthi and Anjana headed? Audiences are in for a hilarious ride that also works well as a sensitive love story.

Kaalidas (Bharath) is an investigative cop whose profession eventually drives a wedge in his relationship with his wife. He finds several similarities between a few murders. They all had unhappy marriages, were childless and had an affair before the murder. Kaalidas realises that the next victim could be his wife. Meanwhile, his wife had gotten close to their tenant whom she calls “Pappu”. Kaalidas races to save his wife. Will he be able to save her? This psychological investigative mystery thriller is an intriguing watch.
