Titane wins big at Cannes: Take a look at many such car culture movies with verve

The daring world of fast cars and too-close-to-call offer viewers a certain kind of intrigue and fascination, evidenced by the huge popularity of the films in the genre. Recently, the film Titane’s win at the Cannes Film Festival also suggests how car-culture films are finding its feet in the industry. Here are a few action-packed films sure to fire up the auto-enthusiast in you.

Ford v. Ferrari

When Enzo Ferrari rejects a deal with Lee Iacocca and Henry Ford the Second regarding the sale of his company, it offends and angers the Ford Motor Company executives. Determined to beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a prestigious sports car race in France, Ford orders the racing division of his company to build a car for the same. Carroll Shelby, a former racer, and Ken Miles, a mechanic, are tasked with the huge responsibility and the film revolves around their efforts to fulfil it in the best way they can.
The Fast and the Furious

After a group of criminals rob a truck of its electronic cargo, a police officer is sent undercover to find out the identities of the members who were a part of the heist. His investigation ultimately leads him to be a part of the street racing universe and his interest in the same threatens to derail his purpose. This film is the first instalment in the popular Fast and Furious franchise.

Mad Max: Fury Road

There he learns a lesson or two in humility. The film has spawned a series of sequels and spin-offs.

Based on the novel of the same name, the film revolves around the story of a mechanic and stuntman (who also works as a getaway driver for criminals). His life gets even more complicated when he is involved in a heist planned by his neighbour. Ryan Gosling’s performance as the unnamed driver character received much praise.
