Anthologies seem to have become quite popular among the audience now, and filmmakers have stepped up their game in making creative and unique anthologies in different languages, dealing with diverse subjects. Filmmakers come up with varied stories set in different backdrops, each having unique narration, offering a never-before-seen experience to the viewers. The pandemic has definitely affected our lives tremendously, including the way we watch movies. Below are a few anthology projects that were released during the lockdown, in 2020 and 2021 .

Paaava Kadhaigal is a Tamil anthology which had four episodes directed by Vetri Maaran, Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon and Vignesh Shivan. It opened to positive reviews from everyone, thanks to the raw portrayal of human emotions. Kalidas Jayaram,Sai Pallavi, Simran and Anjali are a few actors who received appreciation for their performances in it. The anthology takes us through a roller coaster of emotions and the audience couldn’t have asked for more. The movie primarily explores how pride, honour and sin influence relationships in our society.

The film delves deep into the various conspiracies, fear and isolation behind the pandemic. The movie showcases the lives of six people, who work from home during the lockdown period, battling several struggles.

The Tamil anthology released recently on Netflix explores nine human emotions of the Indian aesthetic theory. Navarasa is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam, along with director Jayendra Panchapakesan, under the banner of Madras Talkies and Qube Cinema Technologies. The series has opened to mixed opinions from critics and audience alike - while a couple of segments received positive reviews, the rest are below par with regard to storytelling.
