Based on the true story of the 1909 Denmark Polar Expedition, Against The Ice, explores Greenland's vast landscape in a unique way, based on a claim and a lost map. In 1906, Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen was attempting to disprove the United States' claim to North-Eastern Greenland based on a lost map. The claim was rooted in the idea that Greenland was broken up into two different pieces of land. To disprove the claim, Mikelson went against the ice with his inexperienced crew member Iver Iversen. This is an awe-inspiring story of friendship, and love, directed by Peter Flinth, who is also known for the Swedish drama Nobel’s Last Will (2012).
