Blue Bayou

The drama film is written and directed by Justin Chon, of Gook (2017) fame, and stars Alicia Vikander, Mark O Brian, and Linh Dan Pham, with Justin himself in lead roles.

The plot of the film revolves around Antonio LeBlanc (Justin Chon), a Korean adoptee raised in a small town. He's married to the love of his life, Kathy (Alicia Vikander), and is raising his beloved stepdaughter. However, he struggles to make a better life for his family. While he tries his best, he has to confront the ghosts of his past.

The film was screened at the World Cinema section at the 26th Busan International Film Festival. It also received mixed reviews and ratings from critics and audiences, with several members calling for the film’s boycott due to appropriating adoptee stories without consent and utilizing inappropriate promotions.

The film is produced by Entertainment One MACRO and distributed by Focus Features in the United States, and Universal Pictures internationally.
