Dallas Buyers Club is a 2013 American biographical drama film directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.
The film follows the story of a man, diagnosed with AIDS, and how he goes about to live his life, and everyone around him. The story is set in the 1980’s.
Ron Woodroof is an electrician and a Dallas rodeo. His life is about to turn upside down, when he learns that he has Aids, due to unprotected intercourse with an intravenous drug user. Initially, Ron denies doctors and the medical report itself.
As the story progresses, Ron deals with smuggling medicines and society itself. He also meets Rayon, a trans-woman. They become friends after a brief period of hostility. Ron becomes much more warmer to people from the LGBTQ community, having spent time with them.
In the end, it is shown to the audience that Ron dies but he lives 7 years longer than what the doctors had expected him to live.
