Dangerous Liaisons

Dangerous Liaisons is a 1988 American romance drama film directed by Stephen Frears. The film revolves around the pre-revolution era of Paris. Marquise de Merteuil, is still bitter, after the breakup with her ex-lover. She decides to take revenge with the help of Valmont. Madame de Tourvel, is the wife of a parliament member, over whom Valmont lusts. Marquise de Merteuil bets that if he can have an affair with Madame de Tourvel and seduce her, she will sleep with him. Valmont accepts this ridiculous bet. Valmont does manage to win over Tourvel, but not the way he wanted. He falls in love with her. Towards the end Valmont perishes and Merteuil is humiliated. Both meet their deserved statuses due to their actions.
