From Meir, to Meir

Written and directed by the Egyptian filmmaker Maggie Morgan, From Meir, to Meir (2021) is an Arabic documentary. The filmmaker, in a span of 12 years, explores and interviews the residents of her ancestral village, while uncovering its beauty and complexities, only to discover that the people are trying to leave. The film was named the NUT Award winner for Best Egyptian Film Promoting Women's Work. The film stars Nasser Loza, Shahira Loza, Samir El Qommos, and others. The documentary is produced under the banner of The Pianola.
