Hala

Hala is a 2019 American English-Urdu language film,written and directed by Minhal Baig. This drama film follows the story of Hala Masood, a seventeen year old girl. She is of Pakistani descent, currently living abroad with her family. Hala likes to skateboard and hangs out with boys, which troubles Hala’s mother. Hala often does things which are contradicting her family’s values. She also likes a guy in her class, but he does not belong to Hala’s community. As the story progresses, we learn of Hala’s family and the secrets and insecurities of her own family. Hala is a journey of self-introspection.
