III Smoking Barrels

Written and directed by Sanjib Dey, the 2017 Indian drama film is an anthology of three stories that dwell on socio-political issues of Northeast India. The film is notable for using six-spoken languages. Produced by Amit Malpani, the anthology essentially depicts the different stages of human life— a child who escapes an armed rebel camp, a boy whose life is entangled in the world of drugs as he becomes a drug peddler, and a man, who engages in elephant poaching to sustain himself and his young wife. The cast includes Subrat Dutta, Indraneil Sengupta, Shiny Gogoi, Siddharth Boro, Mandakini Goswami and Amrita Chattopadhyay, along with Vikram Gogoi, Nalneesh Neel, Niloy Shankar Gupta and Rajni Basumatary, among others.
