IS THAT BLACK ENOUGH FOR YOU?!? is an American documentary by celebrated writer and film historian Elvis Mitchell. The movie explores the techniques of film and its impact from a viewpoint that is frequently ignored: the contribution made by African Americans to movies that were released during the seminal decade of the 1970s. It takes a deep dive into the influence that point of view has had on popular culture and movies. In the form of a love letter to film, it asks questions that have never been asked, much less addressed. Important artists, such as the director Charles Burnett, Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Laurence Fishburne, Zendaya, and others, provide their unique perspectives on the creators and movies that enthralled and influenced them, giving insight into the cultural effects of seeing unapologetic Blackness as well as the history of Black representation in film dating back to its earliest days.
