Set in 1950s Brighton, the film is a story of changing society and forbidden love that revolves around three young people— Tom Burgess, Marion Taylor, and Patrick Hazlewood. Tom Burgess is a young gay police officer who marries Marion, a school teacher while having affairs and being in a relationship with Patrick, a museum curator. Flashing forward to the 90s, the trio attempts to mend the damage of the past caused by the secrets they kept. Based on the eponymous novel by Bethan Roberts, the romantic drama is directed by Michael Grandage with a screenplay by Ron Nyswaner. Starring Grammy Award-winning singer Harry Styles, Golden Globe Award winner Emma Corrin, and Laurence Olivier Award nominee David Dawson, along with Linus Roache, Gina McKee, Rupert Everett and Kadiff Kirwan, Greg Berlanti, Philip Herd, Cora Palfrey, Robbie Rogers and Sarah Schechter serve as producers.
