Nightmare Alley

Acclaimed horror and fantasy filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro, has helmed Nightmare Alley. Set in the late 30s and early 40s New York, the mystery-thriller film follows the story of Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper), who in a desperate bid to turn his life around, joins a travelling carnival. He gains the trust of the clairvoyant Madame Zeena (Toni Collette) and her alcoholic mentalist husband, Pete (Willem Dafoe). He soon begins his own act as a mentalist, perfecting his craft with what he learned from the carnival. Along with the help of his lover and assistant, Molly (Cate Blanchett), he thrives by conning the rich and wealthy. Unfortunately, things take a darker turn and more light is shed on Stanton Carlisle's mysterious past. The film also stars Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, and Ron Perlman in supporting roles.
