Salomé Jashi’s documentary records the painstaking process of transporting century-old trees from the coastline of Georgia to the private garden of Georgia’s former prime minister. The minister’s hobby of collecting trees is a metaphor for the world slowly proceeding towards absolute destruction. This process of uprooting the trees, which are taller than 15-storey buildings, requires many other surrounding trees to be chopped off as well. In some cases, electric wires are shifted around and new roads are made to fulfil the task.
Jashi has also written the documentary, which she has co-produced with Vadim Jendreyko, Erik Winker, Martin Roelly. Jashi has earlier directed The Dazzling Light of Sunset and Bakhmaro heißt Paradies.
