The Eken

This Bengali detective-comedy follows the exploits of Detective Eken Babu, who is on vacation in Darjeeling, which allows for an encounter with Bipasha Mitra, a woman exuding elegance, who sends him on an investigation into an ancestral stone, Bishnu doll. The plot thickens as Eken Babu gets embroiled in the investigation of a murder as well. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the film features Anirban Chakrabarti reprising the role of the quirky detective, with Somak Ghosh and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay playing the roles of his associates, Pramatha and Bapi. The film also features performances from Payal Sarkar, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Chhandak Choudhury, and Debasish Mondal. The character Eken Babu was created by Sujan Dasgupta in 1991 and was adapted into a web series in 2018 by Hoichoi, with Anirban Chakrabarti himself originally bringing the role to life.
