2022 has been a rather dissapointing year for some of the biggest stars from Bollywood.

From two of Akshay Kumar's mega releases tanking at the box office to Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha performing poorly in India, and now Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda's Liger doing below average numbers at the Box Office.

The losses, which are in crores of rupees, are something that Aamir Khan is looking at reducing by waiving off his own fee as the leading man of this Hindi remake of Hollywood's Forrest Gump

According to a news report by Bollywood Hungama, to make up for some of the losses his co-producers have incurred, Aamir Khan has decided to slash his own fee, which would, as per the news article, will cover up a total of 100 crore INR in losses.

“If Aamir Khan decides to charge his acting fees, Viacom 18 Studios would have entailed losses of nearly Rs. 100 crores. However, that loss is something that Aamir Khan has decided to absorb himself. Now, the producer will lose nominal money," a source, who is reportedly close to this recent development, told Bollywood Hungama.

Although Aamir Khan has come out with this movie after a gap of four years and worked on acquiring the legal rights for remaking it in Hindi over a period of 14 years, he has not made any money out of the film, as per the same Bollywood Hungama report. LSC's estimated losses is said to be above 100 crore INR, and Aamir Khan is taking complete responsibility for the film's failure at the box office.

Meanwhile, Laal Singh Chaddha has faced boycott calls on social media. Aamir Khan’s visit to Turkey in 2020 and a meeting with Turkey’s First Lady Erdogan triggered off a massive backlash against him once again. Aamir has also been facing uproar on social media for his old remarks regarding intolerance in the country. All this has said to have affected the business of Laal Singh Chaddha.

Directed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Manav Vij in important roles.
