It’s been just over a day since advance booking of Prabhas’ Adipurush opened across the country. In Karnataka, Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj’s KRG Studios has that responsibility and netizens have not taken kindly to the fact that the distribution wing has barely allotted any Kannada shows of the film in the state.
Karthik, who is quite active on social media, had posted about his banner bagging the all-Karnataka distribution rights and has, since then been at the receiving end of a lot of unkind words as netizens felt that he was not doing enough to push the cause of the Kannada-dubbed version of Adipurush. In response to a comment, Karthik posted, “Thalme irli sir! Nothing can be changed overnight. It requires a lot n lot of iterations. We will have more Kannada shows & I can promise that it will have more shows than other releases which had a kannada version too!”
In the last few days, there have been calls for more shows with the Kannada version. As of this morning, Bengaluru had 3 shows, at multiplexes that do not have the greatest audio or video quality. Industry insiders wondered why bigger chains like PVR and Inox had not listed the Kannada version of the film yet. In Bengaluru, for instance, the ratio of Telugu to Hindi is heavily skewed in favour of the former and as of June 12, close to 100 shows are fast filling, with some completely sold out.
Adipurush is KRG Studios’ 90th release. The Prabhas-led adaptation of the Ramayana, by director Om Raut, also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The film will open in theatres o June 16 in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.
