Ram Madhvani made his OTT debut in 2020 with Sushmita Sen’s comeback show Aarya. The series was critically acclaimed and the final leg of the shoot for its much awaited season two is currently underway.

Although there hasn’t been any update on the release date of Aarya season 2, in a recent Instagram live session, Sushmita did share an update on the series. She shared that they’re only left to shoot the last schedule which should conclude pretty soon. Meanwhile, a source told Times of India that Ram Madhvani is already planning his next show after Aarya 2. The Neerja director is now set to helm a series based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

The source also mentioned that the production for the series, which is expected to be titled Jallianwala Bagh: The Waking Of A Nation, might go on floors in 2021 itself.

Interestingly, Karan Johar had also announced a project on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre recently. His project would focus on the life of an Indian lawyer named C Sankaran Nair, who fought the British Raj to know what exactly transpired that led to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre has been explored in many movies, the most iconic being Gandhi and Rang De Basanti. However, no filmmaker has based a movie or series completely on the incident itself.

Apart from Aarya 2, Ram is currently awaiting the release of his direct-to-OTT film Dhamaka, starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead role. The film is slated to release on Netflix.
