The show starring Amala Paul, Rahul Vijay in the lead roles will premiere on aha this July 16
In times when virtual events are the new normal for the promotion of films and web originals, Telugu OTT platform aha surprised many by going ahead with a lavish offline trailer launch for their thriller series Kudi Yedamaithe in Hyderabad. The cast and crew of the show, including actors Rahul Vijay, Amala Paul, director Pawan Kumar and others were part of the launch. They expressed their optimism about the one-of-a-kind series that innovatively bridges elements of crime and sci-fi in the same story.
The trailer reaffirms filmmaker Pawan's finesse in the thriller space, be it the character establishment or the technical standards or the innovative storytelling. The glimpse also confirms what's quite obvious from the earlier promos - the time loop element in the show - where its two protagonists, a cop Durga and a delivery boy Aadhi experience the same day again for a reason they aren't quite aware of. All that we know is that Durga and Aadhi meet with an accident. Durga is in the middle of cracking a kidnap case while Aadhi is desperate to try his luck with acting.
Will Durga and Aadhi unite in the hour of crisis and put an end to this mess? Kudi Yedamaithe is ready for release in a little more than 24 hours on aha. Amala Paul, last seen in Netflix's anthology Pitta Kathalu for a short directed by Nandini Reddy, earned good reviews for her performance. Meanwhile, this is Pawan Kumar's first release as a director after over three years (his last being the Tamil, Telugu remakes of U Turn). His regular collaborator Adhvaitha cranks the camera for Kudi Yedamaithe. Interestingly, this will be the first show on aha to have both Kannada and English subtitles. Other actors part of the show include Raj Madiraju, Padmini Settam, Ravi Prakash to name a few.
