Ajay Devgn is busy with the promotion of his upcoming action drama, Runway 34. The filmmaker has now revealed when his upcoming biographical sports drama, Maidaan is expected to be released.

“I think it should be in the next 3-4 months (the release). A lot of post (post-production) is going, as soon as the post is complete...the film is complete...the moment post-production is complete, it'll come,” said Ajay Devgn, talking to Bollywood Life.

Maidaan has faced multiple delays and has been in the works since 2019. A much-awaited project, the movie is based on the life of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Rahim is considered to be the architect of modern Indian football. Apart from Ajay essaying the role of the famed football coach, the movie also stars Priyamani.

Earlier reports also suggested that the movie, which has football as its main subject, will also be released in Bengali, considering the passionate football fanbase in West Bengal. This will make Maidaan the actor’s first bi-lingual film.

Maidaan, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, is produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with Bayview Projects LLP. The movie also has A.R. Rahman on board as the music director.

Ajay Devgn is currently awaiting the release of Runway 34, which will mark the actor’s third movie as director. Also starring and producing the movie, Ajay will be seen alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh.

Two trailers for the movie have already been released by the makers, both of which received favourable reactions from the fans. The movie’s second trailer has over 41 million views on YouTube.

Based on a true story, Runway 34 is set to hit theatres on April 29.
