The recent official announcement from makers of Thunivu about its Pongal release made Tamil movie buffs excited to the core. They are eagerly waiting to witness the biggest clash of Kollywood in this decade. The Ajith-starrer will be taking on Vijay's Varisu, though the release dates of both the films are yet to be announced.
According to sources, the two movies might hit the screens on January 11 or 12, depending on terms and conditions between producers, distributors and exhibitors.
There has been widespread speculation doing the rounds that Ajith is planning to attend the pre-release events of Thunivu. The star has been keeping aloof from promotional events for more than a decade. This sudden news of him likely to participate in movie promotion made fans of even other actors curious. Many took to social media to express excitement over the same, though they waited for a confirmation.
However, their happiness was short-lived. Ajith's spokesperson took to social media to post what the star had earlier said about promoting a movie. The post read "A good film is promotion by itself - unconditional love! Ajith (sic)." This ended all the speculation pertaining to the topic.
But this evoked mixed reactions from film buffs. While a few opined that promoting movies is one's personal choice, some others said that promotion is of utmost importance in today's times and pointed out a few examples. Meanwhile, a few pictures of the star from the airport started doing the rounds on Twitter.
Though exhibitors are ruling out the possibilities of Thunivu and Varisu heading for a clash on the same day, it looks like nothing can be predicted till the last minute. The last time their movies clashed was in 2014.
