Ajith's next, AK61, a heist action thriller; Mohanlal, Nagarjuna in talks for a crucial role?

Looks like excited days are ahead for Ajith fans. The star's previous outing was released more than two years ago. But now, the updates on two of his projects are doing the rounds on social media. His most awaited outing Valimai is hitting the screens on February 24. 

His next, AK61, which brings together director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor along with the star for the third time, we hear, will go on floors from March in Hyderabad. There are reports of huge sets being erected at Ramoji Film City for the same. According to sources, the project is expected to be wrapped up in a shorter period of time.

There has been news of the actor playing a character with grey shades in the untitled movie which has been tentatively titled AK61. Recently, it was heard that Prakash Raj and Tabu have been roped in to essay pivotal characters in it. Now, the names of more actors have surfaced with regard to donning prominent roles in it.

The names of Mohanlal, Nagarjuna and Aditi Rao Hydari have been doing the rounds on social media. Apparently, the team is in talks with both Mohanlal and Nagarjuna to play the role of a senior cop in it.

Earlier, Nagarjuna was approached to play the character Arjun essayed in Ajith's Mankatha (streaming on MX Player). Fans of Ajith are eagerly waiting to know if the news would turn out to be true. Looks like Pooja Hegde is in forefront in bagging the project's female lead character.

The movie was supposed to be launched on the occasion of Pongal, but got delayed due to reasons best known to the makers. The team, we hear, is planning to release the film on Pongal 2023.
