Megastar Amitabh Bachchan stated on Sunday that the lack of performers with immense talent like Vikram Gokhale and Tabassum had left the stage lonely. Vikram Gokhale, who was well-known for a number of Marathi and Hindi movies, including Amitabh Bachchan's Agneepath (1990), passed away on Saturday from multi-organ failure while receiving treatment at a hospital in Pune. He was 77.
The host of the iconic Doordarshan discussion show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan and a child actor in several Hindi classics, including Baiju Bawra and Mughal-e-Azam, Tabassum passed away last week after suffering a heart attack. She was 78.
Big B took to his blog to remember Vikram Gokhale and Tabassum. "The days are lined with sadness.. friends and colleagues.. artists of huge merit, leave us day by day.. and we listen, see and pray.. Tabassum .. Vikram Gokhle and some dear ones that are close and known..."
The veteran actor continued, "They came to us in our lives... they played their parts and left the stage empty forlorn and desolate by their absence .. (sic)"
Amitabh Bachchan and Vikram Gokhale also starred together in the 1992 movie Khuda Gawah after Agneepath. Amitabh Bachchan portrayed himself in the 2020 Marathi movie AB Ani CD, which also starred Vikram Gokhale. In the Milind Lele film, the two played childhood pals.
Bachchan previously referred to Tabassum as a "effervescent" all-arounder in a blog post.
"... They all leave us one by one .. and it is beyond comprehension .. you only recollect the times of their presence and life before the eyes and the mind .. and they ever remain an image of the time .. unchanged, unfettered and in the freedom of free .. and then they leave , and it cannot be fathomed .." he had written.
